New Student Registration and Orientation at CMC Steamboat Springs

Yes. All incoming students under the age of 21 and/or living on campus are required to attend orientation. The material covered will be essential to your transition into Colorado Mountain College (i.e. placement tests, information on campus resources, advising and registering for classes, etc.). This also applies to in-district and transfer students.

Transfer students, returning CMC students (excluding high school dual-enrollment) and students who are not looking to earn a degree or certificate do not need to attend these events. These students can call our front desk at 970-870-4444 to schedule an advising appointment with a college counselor.

All accepted and admitted Nursing students will register for their classes during their program orientation and therefore these students also do not need to attend.

STEPS TO ORIENTATION:

1. Apply and be admitted to CMC. If you have not been admitted, please Apply Online. It's fast and free!
2. Submit placement information for Math and English via transcripts, ACT/SAT, or take the Accuplacer test (free). See Placement Testing for details. You can upload your high school transcript and/or ACT/SAT scores by logging into your Admissions Portal. All official college transcripts must be sent electronically to registrar@coloradomtn.edu or mailed to:

3. Submit your Housing Application if applicable.
4. Participate in mandatory EVENTS. Please note that there is a nonrefundable $100 Orientation fee.

The cost of Orientation is $100 for students. The fee charged for orientation includes your food during Orientation and covers the activities, sessions and services utilized. This fee is non-refundable two weeks prior to the event that you have registered for and will be charged to your student account.

After you register for Virtual Registration online, you will be sent a confirmation. You will receive additional information, including scheduled of events via email approximately one week before the event.

You will register for classes during orientation. You will meet with an advisor, register for classes, and pay for the semester at that time. You cannot register for classes prior to orientation.

You are welcome to bring guests to help you move into the residence hall. Orientation will be for students only. Historically, we have offered a virtual Parent Orientation session about a week prior to move-in. More information about this will be provided at a later date.

Air: You can fly into Denver (DEN) and rent a car or take a shuttle. Alternatively, you can fly into Hayden (HDN) and rent a car or take a shuttle.

Shuttle: Alpine Taxi will provide shuttle service to and from the Hayden airport as well as to and from Denver International Airport. Check for current rates at www.goalpine.com.

Car: Steamboat Springs is about 3.5 hours from the Denver airport. Take I-70 west to the Silverthorne exit, Highway 9 to Kremmling then take Highway 40 west to Steamboat Springs.

Bring any SAT or ACT scores, college transcripts or AP scores.

This is a very rare occurrence; students are required to attend Orientation in order to take classes at CMC.
