Student Orientation and Registration in Steamboat Springs

Now that you have made the decision to attend the Steamboat Springs campus, it is time to take the next step and attend Student Orientation and Registration (SOAR). During SOAR you will learn about academic programs and campus life, meet with an advisor, and register for classes. All incoming student are required to attend an orientation. Come to SOAR ready to work and have fun.

It is crucial to your success that you are placed in the classes that are right for you. We focus on academics by assessing your current English, math, reading and writing. Any student who has not placed into college level English, math and reading with ACT or SAT scores or is not transferring-in college course work in English and math, must take the Accuplacer computerized placement assessment. The Accuplacer test will need to be completed prior to Virtual Registration. You will receive more information about this after you register.

SOAR 2021

All incoming students for the 2021 Spring semester must attend the following SOAR sessions:

  • January Virtual Registration & Orientation: January 12 & 14

Students will attend a virtual registration session via Zoom on January 12. Each student will have an individually assigned time that they will log in and meet with an academic advisor. Times will be emailed to students about a week before the event.

Students living on campus will move into the residence hall on Thursday, January 14. Mandatory virtual orientation sessions will take place that afternoon and evening. On-campus lodging is not available in the residence hall for off-campus students or guests during this session. There will not be a fee charged for this event since it is completely virtual.

Students must RSVP by January 5
