“Skiing is my favorite thing to do and being able to make a career in the industry is a dream come true. Colorado Mountain College was a driving force in making my dream of shop ownership a reality. The program gave me the confidence to make a career in the ski industry. The best asset the program gave me was how to analyze the whole picture.”

Ian Downing opened his own shop, SlopeStyle Ski and Ride, in Montpelier, VT. He recently worked to develop an internet-based version of his shop, giving the company a nationwide reach to help the store stay financially viable, even in low snow seasons. He eventually hopes to branch out to multiple locations while still maintaining the feel of a local core ski shop.
