Bachelor of Science Nursing (BSN) Degree at CMC

Registered nurses (RNs) are integral to the success of healthcare teams’ efforts to promote health and wellbeing in individuals, families, communities, and populations. Registered nurses provide care to all age groups in healthcare settings from primary care offices to critical care units. Professional nursing practice requires nurses to work quickly to identify problems, analyze data, communicate clearly, and take action to promote health, manage illness, and improve patient outcomes. The BSN program is designed to foster students’ development of knowledge, skills, and clinical judgment essential to professional nursing practice.
Early Hands-on Learning
We emphasize early experiential learning through clinical learning experiences in a variety of healthcare settings including
- Primary care and other ambulatory clinics
- Acute care hospitals
- Long-term, skilled, or rehabilitation centers
- Community-based clinics
- High-fidelity simulated clinical settings
Preparation for Practice
Designed for students passionate about improving health, the Bachelor of Science in Nursing offers an affordable 4-year degree that prepares students for professional nursing practice with a curriculum grounded in pathophysiology, evidence-based nursing practice, and development of clinical reasoning. Graduates are eligible to apply for the National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses (NCLEX-RN®).
Students benefit from strong partnerships with healthcare systems in Colorado’s rural and mountain regions, gaining experience and mentorship from CMC alumni and experts in rural healthcare.
Application Process
The lower division (first two years) of the program are open admission; interested applicants complete the CMC application and begin taking general education and BSN prerequisite courses.
The upper division (third and fourth years) of the program require application and admission through a selective admission process. This process begins in the second year of lower division coursework.

Upon completing the Nursing (BS) program, CMC students will be able to:
- Synthesize professional nursing knowledge and leadership while providing quality, safe, person-centered care using clinical judgement.
- Incorporate effective communication and professionalism with interprofessional partnerships in a systems-based practice.
- Integrate nursing practices and healthcare policies that influence healthcare systems and population health.
- Prioritize quality, safe, person-centered nursing care using scholarship, including population health and a promotion of lifelong learning.
- Apply the concepts of integrity, dignity, diversity, equity, inclusion, ethics, and social justice in professional nursing practice.
- Utilize technology to communicate, integrate data, mitigate errors, increase sustainability, and support decisions for safe, quality care.

Admission Requirements and Application Process:
- Admission to the upper division courses (third and fourth years) of the BSN is a selective process. Every student wishing to complete the upper division courses must apply and be selected for admission.
- Application Deadline for the Fall 2026 cohort is February 13, 2026. *Detailed instructions and timelines are included in the BSN Application and Admissions Information.
- Admission Requirements
- Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.4 or higher on a 4.0 scale
- Grade of C or better on all General Education and Prerequisite courses. Application to the program can be completed prior to all prerequisite courses being completed. *Applicants should have no more than 9-12 incomplete credits at the point of application (this does not include spring in-process courses).
- Completion of the TEAS Exam
- Completion of the CASPer Exam
- Attend a BSN Information Session
- Application Process
- Complete a CMC Application for Admission (required only for students who have not taken a CMC course within the last year.
- Complete the BSN Application for Admission
- Complete the TEAS and CASPer Exams
- Submit official transcripts from all colleges at which any course was taken.

Tuition and fees are set annually by the CMC Board of Trustees. Tuition rates are based on a student's residency status (e.g., in-district, in-state, out-of-state) and do not vary depending on the campus attended. However, fees do vary by campus location (Breckenridge; Spring Valley; Steamboat). The following estimates are for each year of the 2-year BSN program.
